Program Note:

When David Aladashvili asked me to compose a one-minute piece for his debut solo album, I found the challenge intriguing: “How to write a piece of music that says what it needs to say in one minute?” And the answer came to me not at once, but as I was composing the piece: “Vertical sonorities that reappear throughout the piece become the foundation of all gestures and motifs.”
